About the Author

Jorge Ortiz

Born in Lima, Peru, Jorge Ortiz is an international Fulbright scholar, storyteller, entrepreneur, and lifelong builder of worlds. While studying for his Ph.D. in Kansas, he joined a tabletop roleplaying group whose adventures and characters became the foundation for the world of Assassin's Nocturne.

Drawn to stories filled with moral ambiguity and the tension between heroism and corruption, Jorge writes fantasy that explores the shadows between right and wrong. His love of immersive worlds extends beyond the page into handcrafted dioramas recreating the fictional universes that shaped his childhood imagination.

That same passion for connection and performance has carried into much of his life's work. Over the years, Jorge has taught more than sixteen styles of partner dance, facilitated free community comedy improv workshops, and developed a virtual reality dance lesson app designed to make learning movement more immersive and accessible. When he is not writing or crafting, he also volunteers at a guinea pig rescue center.

Blade of Shadows is his debut novel and the first installment in the Assassin's Nocturne series.
